Local 1994 has hired two new field representatives. T. Coleson Breen and Gabriel Acevero will be working in servicing Local 1994 members throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
Breen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Colorado State and led an organizing campaign at his previous employer, The United Way.
Acevero is the president of the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County and testified on their behalf against the privatization of the County's Dept. of Liquor Control. He has a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He previously worked in business development and as a legislative analyst.
Both are slated to begin work March 7.
In the wake of the recent departure of the director of field services Josh Ardison Local 1994 has restructured some staff roles to “take advantage of their strengths,” said Local 1994 President Gino Renne.
Lisa Blackwell has been named Associate Coordinator of Field Services and Erin Yeagley will take on the role of Associate Coordinator of Political and Legislative Affairs.
Blackwell is fluent in Spanish and has a law degree making her keenly qualified to lead the field services team. Yeagley is active politically as a member of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee and her insights are “invaluable in County Politics and in Annapolis,” said Renne.
Amy Millar has been named “Special Assistant to the President.” She will continue with many of her current duties but will also take on more senior management duties as well. Millar will also represent the Local and the office of the president on various boards and committees.
